Bio

Ummay Kulsum is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University, advised by Dr. Anupam Das. Her research interests focus on applying multimodal AI to online platform safety. She is currently working on developing evidence-grounded AI systems to detect deceptive and harmful activities, including online scams and marketplace fraud. Before starting her Ph.D., she worked at Samsung Research Bangladesh. Ummay received her B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2018.
